As part of the new patient intake process at Synergy Chiropractic in Tucson AZ, patients are given a full Myovision© sEMG (surface electromyography) scan, which measures the amount of electrical activity produced by the spinal skeletal muscles. The scan is conducted with wireless, handheld devices with leads and grounds attached.
When placed on the muscle groups of the spine, it picks up the electrical charge of the muscles, which are readings of nerve activity. It is then translated onto a colored graph that compares it to a "normal" muscle output of that area of the spine.

Scans that show too much or too little nerve activity can help Dr. Gerszewski relate it to other findings from your history and evaluation, which can pinpoint areas of potential dysfunction and compensation.
The Myovision© scans are performed in private during the first intake appointment, with the patient's upper body only gowned. The scans are interpreted by Dr. Gerszewski and her findings are then related to you during the second intake visit at the Report of Findings consultation.
This technology is also used at ongoing Progress Evaluations to assess your progress.
